Yes. AVPA gives priority to applications from families living within the neighborhood or district boundary, a sibling of a currently enrolled student, the children of a parent who is employed at our school, and a child whose parent is a board member of our school.
When the lottery takes place, the family is immediately notified. If the child has a spot, the family receives a welcome email that reminds them to "confirm your child's seat" within 14 days and includes directions on how to enroll. Once enrolled, the parent receives updates on family and student induction. If the child does not have a spot, the family is notified of their number on the waitlist as well as information on how they will be notified if a seat is open to them. If a seat opens up, the family will be notified to confirm their seat and enroll, as well as receive information on induction activities.
